first day teaching1 catechism. it was pretty scary at first. actually, scratch that. it wasn’t just scary. it’s more than that. it’s like, gosh. imagine 14x Astleys. thank God it turned out all right.
i’m not alone facilitating the class so that’s one concern out the window. i have Mary, Estella2 as well as Lizzi to help out so it’s not that daunting actually. but still. first day. whew. i got out alive. yay!
just did some admin stuff today and a few ice breakers. didn’t turn out as well as it should but considering it turned out okay in the end, i’m not complaining. for people wanting to do ice breakers, here’s one we did this afternoon.
The Toilet Paper Game
Props needed:
- 1 roll of toilet paper
The game:
- gather everyone into a circle
- without telling them what the toilet paper is for, ask them how many squares of toilet paper they want (min 3, max 10)
- distribute the squares of toilet paper
- after everyone has gotten all their squares of toilet paper, get them to share as many things about themselves according to the number of squares of toilet paper they have
